Myrtle Beach is opening its doors once again to the participants of the Golf.com World Amateur Golf Championship, formerly the DuPont World Amateur Golf Championship. This will be the 27th event in Myrtle Beach. There are over 3000 participants representing all fifty states and twenty different countries. The schedule of flights has been completed and participants have been arriving early to get in practice time on the courses they will be competing on. Participants will be registering to play at one of the two PGA Superstore locations beginning Saturday, August 28th 3:30 pm until 8:00 pm and on Sunday, August 29th 9:00 am until 7:00 pm.
There are six divisions that have been divided into sixty-eight flights. The six divisions are Men (49 & under), Senior Men (50-59), Mid Senior Men (60-69), Super Senior Men (70+), Women (49 & under) and Senior Women (50+). Each flight consists of forty-eight players of similar handicaps. Each of the sixty courses involved will host two flights per day. All flights will play across four courses during the regular tournament, which begins officially on August 30th at 9:00 am. On Friday, September 3rd the championship round will begin at 7:30 am. All the flight winners and ties will compete on this day for the World Amateur Golf Championship trophy. The final round will be played at Grand Dunes Golf Course. 
There will be daily awards given out at the 19th Hole, hosted at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The Convention Center is centrally located from all golf courses at Oak Street and 21st Avenue North in Myrtle Beach. Beginning at 7:00 pm each evening the 19th Hole provides a nightly celebration for participants and their friends. The MBCC is divided up into the tournament headquarters, golf exhibition and party. There will be a display screen that shows the leaders of each flight that is regularly updated. Food is catered by Myrtle Beach’s top restaurants each night. There are bars scattered through out the convention center offering full service to help players relax and enjoy their story of the day. This year the live entertainment will feature all native South Carolinians performing.
